Members of the estimating and project management teams attended the SSPC 2019 Coatings+ Show and Conference in Orlando, Florida on February 13, 2019. SSPC is one of the only industry providers focused on technical education for coatings industry professionals. The annual conference and training programs provide topics that include surface preparation, coatings and application, project management, research, testing and technology. We were able to interact with 140+ exhibitors as well as learn from the live demonstrations and discussion panels.

UPC has been awarded work on the Triangle Waste Water Treatment Plant for English Construction Company. This is the second job awarded to UPC from English Construction after completing work on the EM Johnson Water Treatment Plant in Raleigh, NC. Aaron Blok-Andersen and his team are gearing up now to work on this exiting project.

The first annual onsite Management Meeting with all regional area managers and ownership was held on July 17-July 19, 2017. This meeting had a full three day agenda to review and openly discuss company operations including manpower, operation procedures, safety policies, review of the work in progress and prepare for expansion and growth with recently awarded contracts. We are taking a proactive approach to curtail potential risks and provide good customer satisfaction. In addition, we had our financial advisor address our financial strengths and weaknesses and recommended ways to continue healthy successful jobs for all. Universal Painting expands to West Virginia as we have been awarded work on the Star City Waste Water Treatment Plant in Morgantown, West Virginia. After David Billingsley worked with Ulliman Schutte Construction and their team for many months we are excited to be involved and work on the job. Star City Waste Water Treatment Plant provides a secondary level of treatment, using both activated sludge and rotating biological contactors (RBC) technologies. The plants current treated flow average is 10 million gallons per day.

During June 4 - June 7, 2015, a Foremen’s Retreat was attended by all UPC Foremen, Area Managers, Management and their families. The event was held at Little Harbor, Florida on the sandy beaches and great fishing waters near Tampa, Florida The purpose of the event was to meet counterparts from other regions, socialize casually and allow our families to become a part of the UPC family. The weekend was a mix of 20% work and 80% relaxation and fun. A fishing tournament was sponsored by our suppliers, Sunbelt Rentals, Tnemec Company, Sherwin Williams, PPG, DN Asbell and Scott Paint. A total of 4 boats headed out to the flats and our winners received a cash award.
